Marcus Eriksen recently rafted across the Pacific Ocean and found plastic particles inside fish species that are commercially fished for human consumption. We are now finding our trash inside the food we eat from the sea. His earlier experience in the Gulf War gave him first hand experience of the true lifecycle of plastic. We pay a heavy price for access to petroleum to make plastic, and we pay human health costs and environmental costs for allowing millions of tons of plastic waste to reside in our environment and pass through our bodies.
